Abstract
It was natural that Spain (Al-Andalus) would be one of the most important
gateways for the transmission of Islamic civilization to Europe, as Al-Andalus
was distinguished by the presence of Muslims there for more than seven
centuries. This had a profound impact on the abundance of scientific, literary,
and cultural heritage in Al-Andalus. The Church benefited greatly from the
transmission of Islamic heritage in Al-Andalus after the Christians succeeded
in conquering the city of Toledo in 478 AH (1080 CE). Toledo had been brimming
with knowledge, books, and libraries throughout the Islamic era and represented
an indispensable treasure trove of science and knowledge for European
researchers, who acknowledged the merit of the Arab-Islamic heritage.
